I was a co-funder of BoxFriends, a social company which aims to improve the quality of charity in rural areas. We use containers to build a kind of flexible and portable public buildings and place them in schools for children left behind. I was the CTO and Tech-Consultant of this company from 2016 to 2018. The CEO Addy Liu won the Harvard SEED Fellow, Forbes 30U30 China 2019 in creating BoxFriends, and our company was the Top 500 Enterprises (2018) in social welfare and collaborated with Tencent, Pastoral Oriental and Hundun University.
I am an active contributor in Open Data Kit community, which produces free and open-source software for collecting, managing, and using data in resource-constrained environments. The users include WHO, CDC, USAID, the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the Carter Center, the Jane Goodall Institute. By contributing to the open-source software and sharing the stories, we are trying to make the world a better place.
